I have designed and created the Capeartscapes website in the hope that I would be
able to reach many artists and art-lovers in the Cape Town area, who are not
computer-literate and cannot create their own websites,
or who cannot afford to maintain one.
I have no computer training, but I had a passionate conviction that I could make this happen and so set
about learning the rudiments of webdesign. This involved countless hours of learning computer language and html. My website is simple,
always a work-in-progress, and at the moment concentrates solely on displaying the paintings that I have created. I wanted to get it up and running to see if there was any interest
from the public and/or other artists who would like to reach a wider audience.
As it stands, Capeartscapes is ready to display more artists' work, although I have not completely set up any payment systems on the site.
I am currently looking into Paypal options and have set up a Paypal account in order to receive payments from any potential overseas buyers.
Currently I am offering the first 10 artists who fit the profile, ie. who live in the greater Cape Town area and who paint
landscapes, free representation of up to 6 paintings (ie. 1 page).
To this end you can submit jpeg images of not more than 300px on any side. You must also supply a short CV (one or two paragraphs) of your
artistic qualifications and/or painting experience.
Any interested buyers will have to contact me first. I will then email the artist directly
informing them of a possible sale. If a sale is made through me, the artist concerned will pay me a small commission of 12%
for handling the sale. All other costs and administrative issues ie. shipping etc will be for the artist's account.
If you would like to be represented in my Capeartscapes Gallery, please contact me.
If you are interested in purchasing any of these original artworks, please contact Viv King.
